Traveling with Infants

Bookings for travel with an infant (lap-child) can be made online. 

Domestic Flights

There is no charge for a child less than 2 years old accompanied by an adult fare-paying passenger and not occupying a seat. A maximum of one infant not occupying a seat is permitted for each fare-paying adult.

International Flights

There is a charge of 10% of the adult fare for infants traveling internationally and not occupying a seat.

Silver reserves the right to request proof of age at any time. If a passenger is unable to provide proof of age, the applicable fare will be charged and the child provided an assigned seat.

Does my infant need a boarding pass?

If you choose to purchase a seat so that your infant may travel in his or her restraint system, you will need to obtain a boarding pass for the infant prior to proceeding to the security checkpoint.

If you choose to travel with your infant on your lap (at no additional charge), the infant will not need a boarding pass; however, you will need to advise the check-in agent that you are traveling with an infant as a lap child.

Are strollers or infant carriers permitted beyond security?

You may choose to bring your infant to the departure gate in a stroller or infant carrier.

Most infant carriers are designed simply to provide convenience in carrying babies. With the exception of a few recently manufactured automobile safety seats that convert to carriers, they do not provide sufficient protection to qualify as CRSs.

You may carry your baby on and off the aircraft in an infant carrier (provided it does not exceed the size limitations for personal items), but it must be properly stowed either underneath a seat or in an overhead bin for taxi, takeoff, and landing.

If the stroller or infant carrier exceeds the size limitations for personal items, the Airport Service Agent will "gate-check" the item (at no additional charge) to your final destination, and the item will be placed in the cargo compartment for transportation. When you reach your destination the item will be returned to you at the arrival gate.

In which seats may a CRS be used?

CRS must be used in an unoccupied aircraft window seat (unless the window seat is unoccupied, in which case it may be used in an unoccupied aisle seat) and cannot be held in an adult’s lap.

Unaccompanied Minors

Unaccompanied children 5 through 13 years of age must be brought to the airport of departure by a parent or responsible adult 17 years or older who remains with the child until enplaned and who must furnish Silver Airways with satisfactory evidence that the child will be met by another parent, or responsible adult upon deplaning at child’s destination.

Bookings for Unaccompanied Minors cannot be made online but must be made by calling the Reservations Center at 801-401-9100. The fare applicable to unaccompanied children will be the adult fare.

Service Charges apply for Unaccompanied Minors 5 years through 13 years, and minors 14 years through 17 years whose parents request the service. There are strict rules for dropping off and meeting them as explained in detail in our  Contract of Carriage.
